We are thrilled to announce the winners of our International Day of Persons with Disabilities photo competition. The winners were carefully chosen by the judges from HelpAge International Myanmar's programme and communications teams and the Disabled People's Development Organisation, along with an award selected by our Facebook followers. They considered the how photographers composed the images, their artistic appeal and how they reflected the theme of disability in Myanmar. "I hadn’t used to the term 'disability' before my son born. When he entered my life as a child with an intellectual disability, I came to know this term very well, and I am beginning to empathise with other people who have disabilities, along with my son. I also would like to encourage others to support and give understanding for these people who don't surrender despite having these disabilities."
