HelpAge established its office in Yangon, Myanmar in 2008 following the devastating Cyclone Nargis. Today, we are focused on improving the health and wellbeing of older people in Myanmar through expanding social protection, boosting livelihoods and access to services through community groups and improving healthcare, particularly tackling non-communicable diseases.

 

 

Specific tasks:

 

Responsibilities

 

The Monitoring and Evaluation Intern will support the development and evolution of organizational performance management framework as well as specific program M&E needs to ensure the quality, and effectiveness of program implementation. The intern will provide assistance to the program staff in developing performance monitoring plans and results frameworks during program design and implementation, creating M&E system, processes and tools, contributing to measuring, analyzing, and reporting results. The opportunity will help build his or her program performance measurement skills through exposure to a variety program and business development activities.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


Tasks include but are not limited to:

Monitoring and Evaluation

 

  • Assist in the management of the M&E collaboration and to share tools and best practices amongst organisational staff and donors.
  • Assist in the development and revision of tools for data collection, work with projects to adapt tools to ensure proper data disaggregation. 
  • Assist with program data input. 
  • Assist in data analysis as needed. 
  • Other research and/or operational assistance, as needed and available. 
  • Support in the review and checking of QI data generated being in line with the M&E reporting requirements.
  •  Support the analysis of data in line with the M&E framework.


    Knowledge Management

 

  • Copy-edit communications and KM materials submitted for review by field staff and make recommendations on formatting and branding. 
  • Conduct regular reviews of project documentation plans and communication pipelines and follow up on pending and passed deadlines. 
  • To synthesize/repackage existing content into new and accessible formats. 
  • Assist in the collection of project updates to share within the division and across the organisation.
     

Data Base Management

  • Identify, collect, and clean historical public health, community development and livelihoods data, according to the needs of the sectoral advisors and senior management team.
  • Maintain electronic copies of all data collected in a well-organized and logical structure, as directed by the Data Management Specialist.
  • Work with the Data Management Specialists to clean and process raw data files, reconcile missing metadata, and prepare the data for uploads.
  • Assist the Data Management Specialist and sectoral advisors to provide guidance and training on the use of the various databases.
  • Support the Data Management Specialists in liaising with project staff and partner organizations in data archive issues.

 

 

The post holder may be asked to undertake additional tasks, commensurate with status, after consultation and the provision of necessary support and training as appropriate.

 

Person specification

 

Essential:

  • Postgraduate in public health/international relations or related filed.
  • Demonstrable interest in international development work in M&E and knowledge management
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Data analysis and interpretation skills in both qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Able to multitask and meet critical deadlines
  • Methodological and reliable
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis software like SPSS/STATA
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment

 

Desirable:

  • Experience in taking part or working on a donor supported research project
